Prevention and conservative treatment of acne vulgaris.
As it has been already mentioned in another page, the development of acne vulgaris is somehow inevitable in puberty and it may be present after this stage. In order to keep the situation under control or to help existing acne spots to heal as soon as possible and to prevent unpleasant complications to occur, you are recommended to follow some simple and straightforward steps of conservative treatment, as they are described below.
Use only soap-free bath, like
Mustela Dermo and cleansing products. Remove any dirt or make-up by cleaning your skin gently, rinsing, if necessary, with lukewarm water and dry thoroughly. Do not do that more than twice a day, because you may end up with too dry skin.
Use moisturizers in moderation and only if needed. Remember, excessive moist skin can get susceptible to acne.
Avoid make-up and greasy cosmetic products. If you have to use them, do that as rarely as possible and remember to remove them, after you get home. It is well known that make-up can clog the openings of pilosebaceous units and trigger the onset of symptoms of acne vulgaris.
Shampoo your hair once a day and brush it backwards, in order to keep it away from your face, especially if your hair is oily. Although this measure is controversial, in many cases, seems to be helpful in treatment of acne.
Try the Kinerase lotion which provides a broad protection and treatment of skin conditions including acne, rosacea and eczema. The following link will help you to find more information about this product.
Avoid eating too many refined, processed, canned or frozen foods and oysters. On the contrary, try to include in your diet foods rich in pantothenic acid, such as mushrooms, whole grain cereals, yogurt, milk, nuts, fish, meat, legumes, avocados, vegetables and sweet potatoes. Alternatively, you can use relevant food supplements.
The aim of the above methods and means of conservative treatment is to reduce the unpleasant symptoms of acne vulgaris and not to eliminate the original causes. The most typical of them are the hormonal changes or fluctuations which occur, mainly, during puberty. In fact, this is an absolutely normal process and in most of the cases, it is a matter of time for acne to subside, as soon as the hormonal balance is restored. In other words, you have to be patient.
There is only one thing you should not do. Although it is quite tempting, do not try to squeeze or scratch acne spots, unless you want to increase the risk for extensive infection, cysts and scaring.
